Microsoft's Silverlight is a Flash alternative and the only way its affiliated with Google is by way of some Microsoft-Google advertising deal I believe
Anyways, I've been using Silverlight for about a year now and its fantastic to use, especially if you are developing with asp.net because they are based on the same .net framework more or less. I wrote
http://www.battleballz.com as my first small test project a while back, which shows that it can do some nice sprite based games. I'm currently working on a large and ambitious social networking app in Silverlight and asp.net that I hope to beta very soon. After that Im going back to web gamdev as its my new passion (I'm addicted to facebook games

) and I believe that theres low-pressure-dont-have-to-bow-down-to-publisher-demand gold to be found in casual web game development
